A Trip to Australia Someday

Blog Prompt: Today is Australia Day. Have you been to Australia? Do you live in Australia? If so, tell us why you went there or live there. If not, tell why you would or would not want to go there.

I would love to go to Australia because I have never been there and I heard so many great stories about it from my former boss. He told me out of all the trips he has been on, and he has been around the world, Australia was his favorite.

To me, it would be the best place to go to when its winter time here because its summertime there. But, my only fears there are the fact they have the 3 deadliest snakes and spiders found on this great big planet we live on. And the sharks at the beach!!!! UGH!!!

But one of the girls I CT for lives there and she is such a nice woman and I would love to be able to meet my friend from down under and she could show us around her lovely country. The scenery is beautiful there and I loveeeeee their accent.

Maybe someday I will be able to visit there.

The Perfect TV Stand

We purchased a 42" flat screen a couple of years ago and the trouble we found when we couldn't find the perfect tv stand for it. We never did find the right one and the the other day I found a great website with tv stands.

Not only will it hold our huge tv, but it will also hold the cable box, receiver, VCR and DVD players. And I love it has drawers and doors to close off items that don't need to be seen. Plus it will very stylish with our decor that we have now. I can't wait to show this piece of furniture off at my home soon.

Needing Help with Stomach Weight Gain

I am always watching my weight and in the last few years, I have watched it add more and more to my body. I am just beside myself and am worried about what it is doing to my body. Even though I am still eating and working out the same, the pounds are still creeping up. I know a lot has to do with my age and menopause is starting with me, but maybe I need to find something else to help me along. It sure isn't good on my bones to carry this extra weight.

Snowing in Florida

It has been so cold the past 2 weeks here in Central Florida with the nights being in the 20's. All my plants are burned and brown and my heater is working over time for sure.

I woke up this morning and there was snow covering the houses and I couldn't believe it. When I heard on the weather yesterday that there might be a chance of a wintery mix, I just laughed. But, Mother Nature showed her force today.

I had to take a picture to pass on to my friends up north.



I know some of you are saying, "Thats not much", but this is the most to accumulate in this area since 1977. I hope my husband is happy now.

Acne Help

My son, while he was in high school, had acne that wasn't being controlled by other means, so it was time to visit the dermatologist. He tried a few anti-biotics on him with no effect at all. It was time to try something much stronger.

Elvis and Me

Blog Prompt: Today is Elvis’s birthday. What is your favorite Elvis song and what memories does it bring back?

Elvis would've been 75 years old today and I have always loved his music. There are so many songs I love of his, so its hard to choose just one song. His gospel music is some of my favorite and I guess American Trilogy is a favorite.

I was born and raised about 3 hours north of Memphis, so Elvis was just the guy down the road, but still a celebrity. I do remember the day I heard on the news about Elvis' death. We all sat in front of the tv for hours to watch the news coming out of Memphis.

I have been to Graceland and what a great tour that was and I'm glad that I was able to experience it. I know there will be thousands making their yearly trip to pay their respects. I have also been to Tupelo and saw his tiny little home.

Here is a video of his last concert before his death. I had tickets to see him 2 weeks after his death. I didn't care what he looked like, he was Elvis and to this day, he will always be the King of Rock and Roll.



I have my DVR ready to record a few things for me to watch tonight about Elvis. Can't wait !

I live in Florida, but the past 2 weeks its been in the 20's and today I wake up and there is snow on the ground!! I am ready for some serious warm weather. The warm waters and sandy beaches are calling me right now for sure.

It's Soup Time

What a great prompt for today when its been in the 20's all this week in Central Florida!! So cold and I so could use some really good soup. I have been racking my brain this week to find a great recipe for some good soup and thought I would share this really good chili recipe. I have made it many times and is the best chili recipe I have come across. It comes from the Neely's in Memphis.

Pat’s Famous Beef and Pork Chili

Ingredients

* 6 slices of bacon, chopped
* 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
* 2 medium onions, finely chopped
* 1 red bell pepper, chopped
* 1 yellow bell pepper, chopped
* 3 tablespoons chili powder
* 1 tablespoon ground cumin
* 1 tablespoon chipotle chili powder (I use regular chili powder)
* 2 teaspoons dried oregano
* 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
* Salt and freshly ground black pepper
* 1 pound 85 percent lean ground beef
* 1 pound ground pork
* 1 cup beer (recommended: Budweiser)
* 1 (15-ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
* 1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
* 1 (24-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
* 1 (24-ounce) can diced tomatoes, with juice
* Lime wedges, for garnish
* Sour cream, for garnish
* Shredded Cheddar, for garnish
* Sliced scallions, for garnish

Directions

In large heavy-bottomed Dutch oven, cook the bacon over medium heat until lightly crisp, stirring occasionally. Once the bacon is browned, add the garlic, onions, bell peppers, chili powder, cumin, chipotle chili powder, oregano, and smoked paprika and season with salt and pepper, to taste. Cook until the vegetables are tender and seasonings are aromatic. Add the beef and break it up with a wooden spoon. Once beef is broken up and beginning to brown, add the pork. Break up with wooden spoon like the beef, and brown, until no longer pink, roughly 4 minutes. Stir in the beer and beans. Toss together, then add the crushed and diced tomatoes. Turn the heat down to low and simmer for 1 1/2 hours. Taste for seasoning and add salt and pepper, if necessary. Transfer the chili to serving bowls and garnish with lime wedges, sour cream, shredded cheese, and sliced scallions.

Beautiful Tiles for My Kitchen

I am wanting to do a little remodel project in my kitchen for a back splash. I have seen some beautiful kitchens with ceramic tile as a back splash and I have been scouring the Internet for the perfect place to purchase them from.

I found a great tile store called BuyTile.com. They are a distribution center for glass and stone tiles. They stock a full line which can be shipped anywhere in the United States. I love it because you can order samples to see what looks good for your project.

There are so many different types of styles to choose from and I don't know where to begin. I love the example in the picture to the left. They have over 30,000 different styles! But after looking at all the different colors, shapes and sized. Those colors would rock in my kitchen on that wall.

I can't wait to get started on my back splash and make my kitchen the talk of the town.
